Skate Board Project
Reflection Sheet
1. How does this assignment relate to the standard?
This project was done in class. The project was focused on the Pythagorean Therom. We were meant to use the equation a^2+b^2=c^2 to find the diagonal of a given box. However, we could have also used the equation a^2+b^2+c^2=d^2.
2. What are the steps you took to compete and do well on this assignment?
First, my group was given the project. Since this was a group project we worked together as a team. We used the equation a^2+b^2+c^2=d^2 to find the diagonal of a box. First, to find the diagonal of the box, we had to find the diagonal of the bottom of the box. This diagonal is represented in the equation with c^2. The a^2 and b^2 represent the length and height of the box which is connected to the diagonal of the box to make a triangle.
3. This assignment demonstrates the following strengths...
This assignment demonstrates that I know the Pythagorean Therom. This means that I know 2 equations. As mentioned before, these equations are a^2+b^2+c^2=d^2 and a^2+b^2=c^2. Also, this project demonstrates that I know how to work as a team since this was a group project.
4. I could have improved my work on this assignment by...
I could have improved on the explanation. We got a 79% on this project because we didn't explain why we used the equation we used. For example, we were meant to tell you what I said before on problem #2. "First, to find the diagonal of the box, we had to find the diagonal of the bottom of the box. This diagonal is represented in the equation with c^2. The a^2 and b^2 represent the length and height of the box which is connected to the diagonal of the box to make a triangle."
5. How will you apply the skills you learned from this assignment in either the real world when you are an adult or in other classes while you are still a student?
I can apply these skills in the future in my 9th grade class. Pythagorean Therom, I believe, is a part of geometry which means that I will have to know it to be able to understand my 9th grade math class. However this also applies to all my other standards which means I have to be able to understand most, if not all, of my standards to understand the class. Also, I can use the skills I used on this project on the finals which are coming up the very next week.
