EOTY DBQ (Civil War)
1. How does this assignment relate to the standard?
This standard, to make things simple, is basically to analyze the Civil War. We achieved this by first learning a lot about the civil war in detail. Then we were assigned a DBQ to fill out. After we filled out the DBQ we started writing an essay on the civil war and everything we learned about it to explain why the South seceded from the Union.
2. What are the steps you took to compete and do well on this assignment?
First, we learned about the civil war. Next, we filled out a DBQ packet. After that, we filled out another packet that had the documents that we will use for the essay. Then, we made a rough draft and then finally made the final paper.
3. This assignment demonstrates the following strengths...
This assignment demonstrates that I know about the Civil War. This also explains that I know why the South seceded from the Union, theoretically causing the civil war. Also, this demonstrates that I have the ability to make an essay based of information we learned in class. Also, this means that I can make an essay more exciting and keep an audience entertained.
4. I could have improved my work on this assignment by...
I could've improved by working more efficiently and slowly. I wrote this essay really fast and I always had extra time in class everyday we worked on this. I could have slowed down and taken my time to write out a better essay.
5. How will you apply the skills you learned from this assignment in either the real world when you are an adult or in other classes while you are still a student?
I can apply these skills next time I think about Abraham Lincoln. Before, I used to think Abe was the 1st president...... yes, I did.... Those were my caveman times. Now I know that he isn't the 1st president and that he was a major contribution to the end of slavery. Also, I know that Abe also contributed to winning the civil war for the Union and got the Confederate back into the Union using the war that the Confederates started.
