Life of an African American Brochure
Reflection Sheet
1. How does this assignment relate to the standard?
The standard was to analyze the divergent path of the people in the South and the conflicts they faced. This project was based upon the life of an African American. This project had us showing both what a slave's life is like and what a slave does to rebel against his or her owner. So, we've met standards by showing the life of an average African American slave.
2. What are the steps you took to compete and do well on this assignment?
I was absent the day we took notes on this assignment. So, I borrowed notes from my friend and chose 5 different sections to write and draw about in this brochure. Then I wrote about these 5 sections on this brochure. I added decoration and made a title page for the brochure.
3. This assignment demonstrates the following strengths...
This assignment demonstrates that I know about the life of an African American in the South before slavery was illegal. Also, this demonstrates that I know how to make a legit project based off notes I borrowed. Also, this demonstrates that I learned about the slavery in the South in history class.
4. I could have improved my work on this assignment by...
I could've improved by having better decoration. I could've made better decorations and colored better but I rushed and got lazy.
5. How will you apply the skills you learned from this assignment in either the real world when you are an adult or in other classes while you are still a student?
I can apply this in the future the next time I'm looking at slavery back in the South. Next time I look at the south I'll think of the slaves in slavery. Then, I'll think of our community today and realize that we haven't changed much from 1800s. I mean, in both eras there are people who are racist and there isn't much change on that. However now, slavery is illegal so it's less racist.
