Japan's geography has many downfalls. One of the greatest downfalls they have is that only 15% of their land is flat enough for farming. Also they didn't have a lot of natural fuels such as oil and coal. Japan, on the other hand, did have its benefits. Japan had constant rainfall that lead to their lush green lands.
